The Community Relations Office is the public relations and outreach arm of the Mayor's Office, which responds to citizens' questions and connects the public to a multitude of resources and services offered by city government. Special projects, assistance in coordinating publicity for community events on NLRTV (closed access channel) and mainstream media, and connecting citizens with vital community service agencies providing public assistance is provided through this office. The department serves as a liaison between public and private entities working together for the common good.

Information Kiosks Provide Citizens With Energy Related Tips and Assistance Resources
Information on home energy conservation, low cost and no cost home improvement ideas and simple lifestyle changes, and agencies which provide financial assistance, counseling, medical clinics, family development, food pantries, etc., can be found on the brochure kiosks at the following locations:

Citizens Energy Relief Hotline 340-5454

A new energy relief hotline is available by calling 340-5454.
Option 1: Summer time availability of Heat Relief Centers
Option 2: Agencies which provide financial assistance for utility bills and weatherization programs
Option 3: Location of information kiosks bearing information about energy conservation, home weatherization tips, assistance agencies
Option 4: Flexible payment options offered by the NLR Utility Accounting Dept. making it easier for citizens -who qualify- to pay their bills.

Recycling Services:

Curbside Recycling Waste Management provides curbside collection in North Little Rock of clean paper products, glass, aluminum, plastic bottles, and cans. For more information, call Waste Management at 570-1255.

Recycling Drop Off Centers McCain and North Hills at Kroger Saturday only 7am-12 noon.

Plastic Bag Recycling-Sack It To Us Just place all your clean and empty plastic grocery/retail store bags and dry cleaner garment bags into (1) plastic bag, tie off and place in your home recycling bin.
Remember: NO food bags, film from food containers, zipper or sandwich bags, garbage bags, or mulch, soil, or salt bags.

Household Chemical and Electronics Recycling Household chemicals and electronics may be taken to collection centers at the following locations and days from 7 am-9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays & 7 am-noon Saturday. North Little Rock - 12th & Willow at Public Works Every Tuesday and 3rd Saturday; Sherwood - 6500 North Hills Blvd. at Public Works Every Mon and 1st Saturday. Keep North Little Rock Beautiful:

The Great North Little Rock Clean-Up The Great North Little Rock Clean-Up is a special one-day community event, usually held the first weekend in May, designed to encourage residents to join in a litter clean-up of neighborhoods and city streets, parks, trails, and river banks. The event is lots of fun for families, youth groups, businesses, churches, community groups, and civic clubs, and is designed to clean up the city, to educate young and old about the environment, to promote recycling, city beautification, concern for the environment, energy efficiency, and a multitude of other reasons to Keep North Little Rock Beautiful.

Adopt-A-Street Sponsors Businesses, civic clubs, organizations, churches, youth groups, bicycle clubs, etc. are encouraged to adopt a section of a street for the purpose of litter control, while receiving recognition from the City. Contact Neighborhood Services for applications: 340-5349.

Citizens Litter Bug Patrol If citizens see someone throwing paper, cigarettes, or any other non-degradable items from their vehicle, call the state's Litter Hot Line to report the license plate, car model, location, and item(s) thrown from cars. The caller remains anonymous, and the "litter bug" receives a letter letting them know they were spotted littering the environment, reminding them littering is illegal and of the $1,000 fine, and calling on them to be good citizens. City Beautiful The City Beautiful Commission has matching grants for schools, non-profits, and other neighborhood organizations that wish to help foster community pride through beautification or landscaping. Contact Gayle Fisher 835-0859 or Neighborhood Services for applications.

Neighborhood Block Party Requests/& Equipment Loans Requests to block off a portion of a street for a neighborhood event must be sent in writing to the office of Neighborhood Services at least 7-10 days prior to the event. Approval will be based on safety considerations and traffic flow on major thoroughfares. New safety regulations during evening hours (after dark) require having a person posted at each barricade site wearing an orange reflective vest and using a flashlight to alert motorists about the barricade location. Youth Programs:

Sister City Youth Summer Homestay Program

North Little Rock has a summer youth homestay program with our Sister City, Uiwang City, South Korea. Students who participate should be between the ages of 14-18, live in North Little Rock, and be willing to host a Korean student in their home for about 10 days one summer, and the following year be willing to travel to Korea for a similar homestay summer program.
